Away record: | 5-3 |
The San Francisco 49ers' 2020 season was marked by disappointment, ending with a 6-10 record and missing the playoffs after their Super Bowl appearance the previous year. A slew of injuries crippled the team, including a season-ending ACL tear to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 2. Backup quarterbacks Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard were unable to bring stability to the offense, which struggled with inconsistency. The defense also faltered, allowing the most points in the NFL. Despite the hardships, a few bright spots emerged: wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk showcased his potential, and defensive end Nick Bosa continued his development. As the 49ers look ahead to 2021, they hope for a resurgence with a healthy Garoppolo and several key additions to the roster.
