The 2000 season was a tough one for the Carolina Panthers, who ended up with a disappointing 7-9 record. Quarterback Steve Beuerlein and head coach George Seifert led the team, but they faced numerous challenges, especially with injuries decimating the defense, which ended up among the NFL's weakest. The Panthers started strong with a promising 5-2 record but faltered in the second half of the season, losing seven of their final nine games. Consistency was hard to come by for the offense, which leaned heavily on running back Stephen Davis and wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad. One bright spot in an otherwise bleak season was their Week 14 victory over the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens.
