Rams head coach Sean McVay is hopeful that wide receiver Cooper Kupp could return after the team's bye week, though he warned that it is not guaranteed.
Since suffering an ankle sprain in week 2, Kupp has been out of action. McVay acknowledged that targeting a week 7 return for Kupp is an optimistic plan, but it remains uncertain.
McVay mentioned that Kupp is engaged in specific exercises with the medical staff and promised to update the situation after consulting with them.
Even though McVay initially mentioned Kupp's absence might be long-term, the Rams chose not to place him on injured reserve. This decision means Kupp could return sooner, but he still requires medical clearance before he can resume practicing.
Additionally, McVay noted that quarterback Matthew Stafford has been experiencing back soreness after the Rams' defeat in week 5. Despite Stafford being sacked 16 times this season, McVay expects him to be available following the bye week.
